Intro to Your Camera & IMPOSSIBLE PROJECT Integral Film-FREE
Run Time: About 20 minutes-Available during regular hours M-F 10am-6pm. Saturday hours are totally random. Simply drop in or call first to make sure I'm at the shop!
This is a quick informational thing that's great for anyone thinking about getting back into using a vintage Polaroid camera with IMPOSSIBLE PROJECT film. The more informed you are, the more fun you'll have! If you're able to come in when you've got a few extra minutes, we'll talk about the important differences between IMPOSSIBLE PROJECT film and the old Polaroid film, as well as review film storage and handling, and go over the camera functions. Examples of Polaroid cameras that take IMPOSSIBLE PROJECT film:
Workshop #1: Content & Composition-$50 per person (Special Summer Intro Price)
Plan for 2 to 3 hours-Film Included. Up to 3 cameras are available or use your own! Participants get 10% off any IMPOSSIBLE brand products purchased immediately after the workshop!
One of the most difficult challenges in photography is learning to see the world from a camera's point of view. If you've ever wanted to take a photography class just for fun, you will love this super informal, relaxing workshop! We'll start at the shop and go over some basic information and concepts to think about before taking a picture with the Polaroid camera, then we'll walk down to Coolidge Park so you can get straight to practicing! I'll be right by your side, looking through a camera, as well, which allows me to see what you're seeing when you find something you want to take a picture of. I'll be able to tell you how the camera will interpret what you're seeing and how it will look as a final photograph. If it'll be a little funky, we'll look at it from different angles and talk about alternative options. After you've finished the pack of film, we'll head back to the shop to discuss your photos. If there's anything that stands out as "off" in a photograph, I'll point it out to you, tell you why it's standing out and make a couple suggestions.
Here are some examples shared by my friend, Brittany, who recently took the workshop. She has zero background in photography and no previous experience with using a Polaroid camera, and her photos are well worth framing!
[The current intro price of $50 includes film, which means you're getting a full-blown, personal photography lesson for less than $25!]
Workshop #2: IMPOSSIBLE FILM Manipulations-$50 per person
Plan for 3 hours-Film and Cameras Included-Great workshop to do with friends! Participants get 10% off any IMPOSSIBLE brand products purchased immediately after the workshop!
In this three hour workshop, you will practice the three most popular IMPOSSIBLE PROJECT creative manipulations:
1. Emulsion Lifts.
2. Negative Bleaching
3. Image Manipulation (Attempting to replicate a watercolor painting!)
Workshop #3: The Pack Attack-Special Intro Price of $35 per person
1 to 2 hours-Film Included-Up to 3 Cameras available-Fun to do with friends!
Now it's time to get old-school! These cameras are attention grabbers and they're sooooo much fun to use! The Pack Attack workshop introduces you to the Polaroid Land Camera and Fuji Instant Film. It's split into three parts:
1. Become familiar with the camera: open/close everything, learn all the dials and gadgets, loading the film
2. Time to play! I will accompany you on a short field trip while you shoot some pictures.
3. Lastly, we'll return to the shop so you can try your hand at a couple of image tranfers onto watercolor paper!
After taking this workshop, there's a very good chance you'll be hooked and ready to start your search for a used camera to call your own. If that's the case, just let me know and we'll talk about the things to look for when buying an old Polaroid pack film camera!
Workshop #4: B&W Polaroid Portraits Intro Price of $20
Less than 1 hour-One Pack of B&W Film Included-Fun to do with friends!
This workshop is also done with a pack film camera, and requires at least two people. We'll put a portrait lens on the camera and you basically just switch off however you please and take B&W portraits of each other against the wall here in the shop. It includes one pack of B&W Fuji Film, which is 10 shots. If you run out of film before the hour is up and want to keep taking pictures, you are certainly welcome to buy another pack of film!
